Brow Preparation
How to Prepare for Your Brow PMU Appointment

Good preparation can help make your appointment more comfortable and support the healing process afterwards. Whether you’re having microblading, combination, ombré, powder or hyperrealism brows, there are a few things worth thinking about before treatment day.
In the Days Before Your Appointment
Avoid waxing, threading or tweezing your eyebrows for around 5 days before your treatment. This allows your artist to see your natural brow growth and avoids unnecessary irritation to the skin before PMU.
Avoid sunbeds and excessive sun exposure for at least one week beforehand. Your skin should be healthy and free from sunburn or irritation on the day of treatment.
If you have recently had, or are planning to have, Botox around the treatment area, speak to your PMU artist about timing. At Polished Brows, we advise leaving at least 2 weeks before your brow appointment.
The Day Before & Day of Treatment
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment and caffeine for around 6 hours beforehand.
Some medicines and supplements, including aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil, can affect bleeding. Never stop prescribed medication without advice from the healthcare professional who prescribed it. Let your PMU artist know about any medication or supplements you’re taking as part of your medical consultation.
Drink plenty of water before and after your appointment and arrive wearing something comfortable — brow appointments can take a while, so comfort matters!
Prepare for the Healing Period Too
Preparing isn’t only about the appointment itself. Before having your brows done, think about the first week afterwards too — when you’ll wash your hair, how you’ll shower without repeatedly soaking your brows, your exercise plans and how you normally sleep.
A little planning beforehand can make those first few days of brow healing much easier.
